After needing to cancel the CEEMC 2020 and organize the CEEMC 2021 online, due to the covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we were delighted to return to face-to-face mooting in beautiful Budapest.
The moot question this year required teams to get to grips with EU competition law and anti-discrimination rules, set against the fictional (but very reflective of the real world) background of plans to create a European Mega League in football.
Congratulations to the winning team from the University of Ljubljana, who won in an entertaining and hard-fought final moot against the University of Zagreb.
Karolina Michková (Masaryk University, Brno) and Tamari Kiknadze (Free University of Tbilisi) won best speaker prizes and undertook internships at the CJEU. Judge Krystyna Kowalik-Bańczyk kindly invited both of the best speakers to her Cabinet and allowed them to experience life and work in one of Europe’s most important institutions.
