Friday 26 April: Hotel Ibis, Wenceslas Square

 15:00: Check-in to hotel

The hotel only guarantees check-in from 15:00 (some rooms may be ready for check-in before then, but we cannot guarantee this). Please be aware that your registration fee covers the costs of your room and the related ‘tourist tax’. The hotel’s policy is to require guests to provide a credit-card to cover any extra costs incurred by the room during your stay, so please make sure that at least 1 person per room has a card for this purpose. No money will be charged if you do not incur extra costs.  

 

 

Friday 26 April: Charles University, Faculty of Law

18:00-18:30: Team Number ‘Lottery‘

Teams will pull-out a number in a ‘lottery’. Using this number, you can identify (i) when the team has each moot; (ii) which side (applicant or respondent) to represent in each moot; and (iii) the opposing team in each moot.

20:00: Dinner and announcement of semi-finalists: 

U Fleku restaurant (specifically: The Knights’ Hall) 

Dinner and announcement of the 8 teams which progress to Sunday’s semi-finals. Each receives a Semi-Finalist team number, which indicates when they will moot on Sunday. 

This meeting also includes a talk about the Bar of England & Wales, the role of the Inns of Court and how to become a barrister. This will be delivered by Mark Hill KC of Inner Temple, one of the CEEMC’s sponsors.

14:00: Announcement of finalists

Announcement of the 2 finalists and ‘lottery’ to see which team represents applicant/respondent. The questions to be mooted in the final will also be announced.

 

15:00: Moot Final (Charles University Faculty of Law, Collegium Maximum – room 100, 1st floor)

We hope that all 16 teams will attend the final and support the finalists. Immediately after the final, an awards ceremony takes place. Special prizes are given (to teams from all rounds of the competition) for best written pleadings and for noted speakers. Prizes include internships at the Court of Justice, visits to the UK Supreme Court and Cambridge University, free-of-charge places on the British Law Centre’s Diploma in English Law & Legal Skills and book prizes. Every competitor receives a certificate signed by CEEMC President, Eleanor Sharpston KC.

20:30: Party, Food and Drink:  PM Club 

NB. Food is served from 20:30. A drink-for-free bar (beer, wine, juices) will operate from 20:30-21:30. 

 

22:30 (approx.): singing competition

Each participating country gets the chance to impress with their singing talents. Rumour has is that the judges may also be singing something…
